E-Prime 3.0
E-Prime 3.0 is the world-leading software for behavioral research such as speech perception and psycholinguistic experiments. E-Prime provides a truly easy-to-use environment for computerized experiment design, data collection, and data analysis. E-Prime also provides millisecond precision timing to ensure the accuracy of data.
Fitbit
Fitbit device (i.e., actigraphy) automatically detects sleep when people wear it to bed. Its heart rate sensors and motion detectors work behind the scenes to track people’s sleep. With the data of sleeping heart rate and movement, Fitbit can measure time spent in each of the three sleep stages: light sleep, deep sleep, and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. It also generates personalized sleep scores to indicate individual sleep quality.
PCquirer
PCquirer is used to record the airflow from the mouth and nose. It can also record the pressure of the air in the front of the mouth and in the pharynx. The system is illustrated below. It consists of a data acquisition system connected to a laptop or desktop computer, and an assembly with oral and nasal masks and pressure tubes held by the speaker, together with a microphone that records the sound.
Articulograph AG500
The electromagnetic articulograph AG 500 is adopted in speech mechanics research. The movement of speech organs can be measured, graphed and saved with this apparatus, which makes a connection between the fields of acoustic and mechanical speech research. Sensor placement is allowed at all positions and in all orientations within 300 mm spherical measurement area. The unit allows measuring with high timing resolution. Small connector coils are positioned on and in the subject's mouth. Together with the accompanying software, the procedure from set up to measurement to data analysis is clear and allows the user to access otherwise unavailable information about tongue, mouth, palate, and jaw movement.
Kay Elemetrics CSL (computer speech lab) 4150B
Computerized Speech Lab (CSL), Model 4150B, is a highly advanced acoustic analysis system with robust hardware for data acquisition complemented by the most versatile suite of software available for speech/voice analysis, measurement, and therapy. The CSL model is a state-of-the-art input/output audio device for a PC, and meets the exacting requirements for reliable acoustic measurements both in the clinic and for research. This apparatus contains an external module with user controls and an internal plug-in card for the host computer.
